Thank You Veterans
To honor the Veterans that have served our country, we choose to pay it forward and support Veterans that are struggling to obtain mobility and medical equipment such as, power chairs, electric scooters, commodes, patient lifts, hospital beds, and more.
We at Mobility Equipment Recyclers want to acknowledge the Veterans we have helped or worked with in the past, and showcase their achievements.
Roger Plante
Roger Plante grew up in Woonsocket, RI.
He was drafted into the US Army and underwent basic training at Fort Dix. He further pursued training at Fort Lewis in Washington.
Roger was a member of the 834 Tactical Unit and served in Chulhi, Vietnam where he then went on to receive a Purple Heart for the injuries he faced in combat.
A little over 8 years ago Roger suffered from a major stroke that was believed to have been caused by Agent Orange from his term in the US Army (but, cannot be proven at this time). With the help of CNA’s and therapists Roger has been doing really well and is making a recovery.
To thank Roger for his service, we gladly donated him a hospital bed at the 2015 Anchor Down Car Show to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project in order to take some of the stress off of his recovery. Roger is a strong willed individual and we are glad that we were able to make a positive impact in his life.
Maurice P. Trottier
Maurice P. Trottier was born in Central Falls, RI. in 1931. At the age of 17 Maurice enlisted into the United States Naval Reserves.
On October 24, 1949 he joined the US Army. He further went on to serve as a member of the 78th AAA Battalion supporting the first ROK division, the 2nd division, and the 25th division in the Battle of Unsan in Korea.
In November of 1951, Maurice left Korea with 5 campaign stars. A couple of years later, he joined VFW Post #1271. In 1954, Maurice re-enlisted with the 11th Airborne Division and attended Jump School at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, where he then participated in the reactivation of 101st Airborne Division. Furthermore, Maurice would then set off to serve in Germany.
In 1959 Maurice was released. 19 years later he joined the National Guard, where he served 7 years with a signal company. From there, he went on to re-enlist in the Naval Reserve and served 4 years on the USS Valdez. Maurice retired with 22 years dedicated to serving our country.
Thank you Maurice for your bravery and long time dedication to serving our country. Mobility Equipment Recyclers gratefully donated an electric scooter to Maurice at the 2015 Anchor Down Car Show.

Jim P.
Jim P. joined the US Army in 1972.
In December of that same year, Jim served overseas in Vietnam alongside the United States Navy.
Jim served the United States Army for a total of 8 years on active duty. Discharged from the United States Navy, he was the rank of Petty Officer First Class. Down the line, Jim worked in group homes until 2008 when he retired from disability.
Mobility Equipment Recyclers wants to thank you for your service Jim. To show our gratitude, we donated him a mobility scooter at the 2015 Anchor Down Car Show.
Kasim Yarn
Kasim Yarn immediately joined the United States Navy right out of Highschool. He was first stationed in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. In 1995, Kasim served at Naval Station Newport in RI.
The Navy ended up selecting Kasim to become an officer and attend college. That same year, Kasim received his commission as a Naval Officer and was deployed to serve in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf area.
On February 17, 2016 Gina Raimondo appointed Kasim to First Director of Veterans Affairs for the State of Rhode Island.
Kasim served a total of 20 years of service to our country.
Kasim gave us (Mobility Equipment Recyclers) the opportunity to donate a power chair to a Veteran in need at the 28th Annual North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament for the Veterans home in Bristol, RI. we want to thank Kasim Yarn for the opportunity to give back and help those that fought for our country.

Hector Aponte
Hector Aponte was a Korean War Veteran.
During the holiday season, Mobility Equipment Recyclers presents a charitable gesture for the community named “The Gift of Mobility” where we donate mobility and medical equipment such as power chairs, electric scooters, commodes, patient lifts, and more to people that are in need.
In 2015, Hector Aponte was one of the lucky recipients to receive a free electric scooter.
We at Mobility Equipment Recyclers thanks you for your service Hector, and we hope that we were able to make that Christmas one that you will never forget.
